About Us

Hello and welcome!

We are a mixed-race, multilingual little family in Toronto, Canada, and this blog is a place for me to document my adventures as a new mum to baby Téa (her online moniker for now).

I'm trying my best to "follow the child," and am inspired by the Montessori method, cognitive science, and attachment parenting. (You can see that I have fallen down the rabbit hole of educational approaches; I am interested #doingallthethings)  I'm also a DIY fiend, so ever since my daughter was born I have been incessantly sewing and knitting for her.  I look forward to the joy of making beautiful things (by that I mean anything: cute clothes, tiny furniture, child-led spaces) for her for years to come.

Before becoming pregnant, I was attracted to Montessori because it resonates strongly with my background in architecture and design.  However, like many urban families today, we only have a small space and a lean budget to create our daughter's living environment, so everything you find on here will most be handmade and improvised, more #lifehacks than design with a capital D.

I started this blog because I invariably google everything extensively and have found other bloggers' ideas, experiences, and writing so helpful that I thought I should share my own, in case it's inspiring to others.

Please get in touch in you are parenting a similar-aged child, and especially if you're in the Toronto area.  I would love to connect with other Montessori families.

hugs,
mama m
